In an e-signed release by Comrade John Kennedy Ikemefuna, Head of Media, MWUN made available to Nationupdate, Comrade Bunu emphasized that the biometric registration and identification of all legitimate Union members employed in the Maritime industry would distinguish genuine dockworkers and seafarers from unauthorized individuals falsely claiming to be members, thereby enhancing the Union’s credibility and integrity.
Comrade Bunu, the seasoned maritime experts highlighted the significance of biometric identification cards for the Union’s dockworkers and seafarers, explaining that it would enable proper documentation and differentiation of legitimate workers from unauthorized individuals. He emphasized the importance of establishing a Seafarers Recreation Center in Apapa, which would provide sailors with a quality recreational space during their time ashore, promoting their well-being and quality of life.
The center he said would not only benefit Union members but also be open to the general public, generating economic benefits for the Union.
Dr. Mobereola assured MWUN President-General of NIMASA’s commitments to Seafarers Recreation Center Project, which was initiated with his predecessor, pledged that his administration would fulfill NIMASA’s obligations as outlined in the agreement, and in ensuring the project’s successful implementation.
