Artificial Intelligence (AI) has not only become a reality but has seamlessly integrated into various facets of our daily lives and industries worldwide. From healthcare to finance, transportation to entertainment, AI’s impact is profound and far-reaching.

Around the world, AI has revolutionized multiple sectors. Innovations such as machine learning algorithms, natural language processing, and computer vision have transformed business operations, human-technology interactions, and decision-making processes. This technological wave is not confined to any single region; its influence is global.

Africa, despite facing peculiar challenges such as infrastructure deficits and varying levels of technological development, is experiencing a rise in AI adoption. However, the pace of AI integration varies significantly across the continent. Some nations are rapidly advancing, while others are still in the early stages of development.

A recent AI Preparedness Index (AIPI) report by the International Monetary Fund highlighted the readiness of 174 countries for AI adoption. The AIPI evaluates countries based on four key dimensions: digital infrastructure, human capital, technological innovation, and legal frameworks. These dimensions are essential for the smooth integration of AI technologies.

Africa remains the region least prepared for the AI revolution despite recent efforts to integrate the technology. Seychelles, Mauritius and South Africa rank highest with a 0.5 index
