Clark is a father of equity, justice — Delta monarch, Oporomo
The Pere of Kerebiri-Mein Kingdom in Bomadi local government area of Delta State, HRM (Barr) Godspower Oporomo, has described elder statesman and foremost Ijaw leader, Chief Edwin Kiagbodo Clark, OFR, CON, as a father of equity and justice on the occasion of his 97th birth anniversary.
King Oporomo, his chiefs, and various community leaders of the kingdom, in a crucial meeting held over the weekend at the palace in Bomadi, the kingdom’s seat of power, chanted birthday songs in felicitation with the nonagenarian, wishing him a longer life with prayers of more happy returns for the leader of the Pan-Niger Delta Forum, PANDEF.
King Oporomo said: “We, the people of Kerebiri-Mein Kingdom, are seated here today in a crucial meeting jointly praying for and celebrating Elder Statesman and foremost leader of Ijaw nation, Chief E. K. Clark, on his 97th birth anniversary.
“Chief Clark is a rare gem who has come to liberate not just the Ijaws but the Niger Delta, southern Nigeria, and the nation in general.
“We celebrate him as a descendant of Mein, and the ancient Mein Dynasty comprised today’s Ogobiri-Mein in Bayelsa State, Ogbolubiri-Mein, Kerebiri-Mein, Ngblebiri-Mein, and Akugbene-Mein all in Delta State.
“Of all the Mein descendants today, Chief E.K. Clark remained the foremost leader, and we respect and adore him because he is a father of equity and justice. So, we’re praying for him today to have many more happy returns in prosperity and good health.”
However, the meeting also deliberated on the way forward for the Kerebiri-Mein Kingdom’s struggle for freedom from oppression, with a task for all sons and daughters of the kingdom to keep faith alive, assuring “freedom is sure.”
