
An Ijaw group, Ijaw Progressive Forum (IPF) has described recent statements credited to popular comedian, Ekene Egbuna about Prophet Jeremiah Fufeyin as unfair and frivolous.
The President, Peretimi Ebiowei, said in a statement in Yenagoa on Thursday that Fufeyin, the Founder, Christ Mercyland Deliverance Ministry, was a respected personality in Ijaw nation.
It would be recalled that Ekene Egbuna, known by the stage name Klintoncod, recently accused Fufeyin of exploiting his congregation through the sale of fake miracle products.
“The attack on the clergyman is defamatory, frivolous, unfounded and false. It amounts to character assassination and public ridicule of a revered religious leader.
“Fufeyin is a respected figure within the Ijaw nation, he is a source of pride to the Niger Delta region and the nation at large,” the statement read in parts.
The IPF president stated that the comedian’s remarks about Fufeyin was disrespectful to the values placed on religion by the Ijaw people.
He said that IPF would no longer fold its arms and watch public figures and leaders of the Ijaw nation being defamed and ridiculed.
