Pension: We’ve surpassed our predecessors’ feats – Adeleke
Distributes N4billion bond to retiree
In line with his pledge to prioritize workers’ welfare, Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke paid N12.7 billion in pension and gratuity within the last 18 months surpassing the records of his predecessors.
According to Governor Adeleke, both Governors Rauf Aregbesola and Gboyega Oyetola paid N11.1 billion in twelve years as pension and gratuity while his administration in one and half years paid N12.7 billion.
Speaking at the presentation of bonds to the contributory pensioners at the Local Government Service Commission, he said the feat was achieved due to his administration’s ability to think out of the box.
His words, “Today, I am presenting a total of One Billion, Five Hundred and Eighty Eight Million, Four Hundred and Five Million and Four Naira (N1,588,405,004.85 ) for 247 retirees at state level. At the local level, a total of Two Billion, Four Hundred and Twenty Million, Nine Hundred and Fifty-Three Thousand, Four Hundred and Twenty-Six Naira (N2,420,953,426.71). The total I am presenting as bond today for both states and local retirees is Four Billion, Nine Million, Three Hundred and Fifty-Eight Thousand (N4,009,358,431.00)
“I invite us to note as I did on the gratuities payment comparison that my two predecessors for 12 years released bonds worth Eleven Billion, One Hundred and Fifty Million, Eight Hundred and Seventy One Naira ( N11,150,871,889.00)
“For my administration, the amount of bonds released from December 2022 to date across State and LGAs is Twelve Billion, Seven Hundred and Nineteen Million, Two Hundred and Forty-Five Naira (N12, 719,245,528,00)”.
Earlier in his remark, the Head of Service, Samuel Aina reiterated that Governor Adeleke’s record of pension beats the last six years of the APC administration in the state.
“Your Excellency our records have shown that the bond certificate you have released in one and half years including those that are done today has surpassed those in the six years. One and half years more than those of six years altogether”, he said.
Representatives of the contributory pensioners, Gbenga Oyadare and Toyin Ayinde both commended Governor Adeleke for giving priority to their welfare, saying they will continue to support his administration beyond 2026.
