The week-long 72nd Annual Convention of the Redeemed Christian Church of God RCCG ended on today with a Thanksgiving Service, during which 2,157 full pastors were ordained by the General Overseer, Pastor Enoch Adeboye.
Earlier in the week, the church had ordained 8,670 deacons, deaconesses and 4,623 assistant pastors.
Also during the Convention, 95 babies were born at the church’s medical facility; while 6,080 students graduated from the Redeemed Christian Bible College.

The ordination of the pastors followed the same procedure of earlier ordinations of the church: RCCG National Overseer, Pastor Sunday Akande who presented the candidates for ordination to Pastor Adeboye, who explained that: “Ordination into the office of full pastors is a very sacred thing because that is the highest office in the Redeemed Christian Church of God. Even the General Overseer is a pastor.”
All 2,157 filed out to the altar area where they were anointed with oil and hands laid on them by Pastor Folu Adeboye and other senior ministers of the church. That done, Pastor Adeboye proclaimed: “We are ordaining you pastors in the Redeemed Christian Church of God in the Name of God the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
“The Almighty God himself will overshadow you, the Holy Spirit will be your strength. Whatever you bind on earth will be bound on in heaven and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in Heaven.
“Whatever you ask to come will come and whatever you ask to go will go; you will not fail, you will not fall; God will use you for His glory; He will support you, He will defend you, He will fight for you. And in the Kingdom of God, you will not be forgotten.”
The economic benefit of the convention which attracted thousands of people from all over the world including the United states, United Kingdom, Israel, Canada, Pakistan, Iran, Bangladesh among others cannot be overemphasized, not with the large number of tourists who graced the occasion, traders who will be smiling to the banks this week including transporters.
The Thanksgiving service witness the General Overseer, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, leading his biological and spiritual family in thanksgiving to God for the success of the programme.
