Nigerian footballers were once again in the spotlight across European leagues this weekend, with Paul Onuachu finding the net in Turkey again when his side, Trabzonspor, clinched an important away win at Gaziantep.

There was no party away at Konyaspor for Galatasaray as they fell to an away 0-2 loss. Victor Osimhen did not make the travelling squad as he was withdrawn after reporting persistent pain in his right knee.

Wilfred Ndidi, on his return for Besiktas, scored the first goal for his team in their 4-0 home demolition of Goztepe. He had been back in Nigeria to lay his father to rest.

Ibrahim Olawoyin was part of the Rizespor team that beat Kocaelispor at home. He started the match but was taken off in the second half after an impressive performance.

In Spain, Ademola Lookman continued his fine form as he helped Atlético Madrid record a comeback 4-2 win at home versus Espanyol. Akor Adams and Chidera Ejuke featured for Sevilla away as they grinded out a 0-1 win against Jose Bordalas’ Getafe.

Elsewhere in Levante, Kareem Tunde could not stop his team from suffering an away 3-0 loss at the hands of Barcelona.

Elsewhere, Sadiq Umar featured throughout for Valencia in the team’s 1-2 away loss to Villarreal.

In England, Calvin Bassey was back in his position for Fulham and featured for the entire minutes against Sunderland. Alex Iwobi also dropped a stellar performance, scoring the team’s third goal. Samuel Chukwueze is not yet back for the team, and did not feature alongside his two compatriots.

Tolu Arokodare’s Wolveshampton Wanderers lost away at Crystal Palace. Unfortunately, the Nigerian striker was subjected to racial slurs afterwards on social media after he missed a penalty. The forward played the entire minutes of the tie.

For Crystal Palace, Christantus Uche did not get a single minute to play as he continues to suffer from a lack of playing time.

Also, Bright-Osayi Samuel was in action for Birmingham City in their 1-2 away league match versus Norwich City. He was, however, replaced in the second half of the game.

Joe Aribo started Leicester City’s away 2-2 draw at Stoke City. He was impressive but was taken off in the second half.

In France, Simon Moses came on in the second half for Paris FC in their 1-1 away draw versus Toulouse.

In Italy, Fisayo Dele-Bashiru was an unused substitute for Lazio in their 0-0 draw at Cagliari.

In Belgium, Raphael Onyedika played the entire match for Club Brugge in their 2-1 home win versus Oud-Heverlee Leuven.

In Portugal, Zaidu Sanusi played the entire minutes for league leaders Porto as they secured a 1-0 home win versus Rio Ave.

In Greece, Bruno Onyemaechi was in action for Olympiacos in the Greek club’s 2-0 home win versus Panetolikos. He was, however, subbed off in the second half.
