The ongoing disagreement between the Ijaw and Itsekiri communities in Delta State has returned to the spotlight following INEC’s ward delineation exercise in the Warri Federal Constituency.
Ijaw groups are supporting the implementation of the new delineation, saying it will improve political representation for their communities. However, Itsekiri leaders have rejected parts of the report, arguing that it contains errors and could affect their representation.
The debate focuses on electoral wards, polling units, and political influence in Warri South, Warri South-West, and Warri North Local Government Areas.
Community leaders and stakeholders have called for peace and dialogue as discussions continue. Many believe that resolving the issue through legal and democratic processes is important for maintaining stability in the region.
As authorities review the concerns raised by both sides, residents are closely watching developments that could shape the future political landscape of Warri.
