A Nigerian cleric, Dr. Christian Shola, popularly known as “Eagle1”, has launched the Amadigolor Prison Foundation (APF Global), an initiative aimed at improving the welfare of inmates and correctional officers across correctional facilities in Nigeria and beyond.
The foundation, which focuses on humanitarian support and prison welfare advocacy, recently organised an outreach programme at the Ikoyi Custodial Centre, where medical supplies, food items and other forms of support were distributed to inmates and warders.
As part of the intervention, the foundation donated medicines and drugs reportedly worth several millions of naira to assist with healthcare challenges within the facility. According to Shola, the initiative was driven by a desire to promote compassion and ensure that incarcerated persons have access to basic medical care and humane treatment.
Speaking during the outreach, the cleric said the mission of the foundation is rooted in humanitarian service and the Christian principle of love for humanity.

“Our goal is to bring hope and dignity to people within correctional facilities. Regardless of their circumstances, every human being deserves compassion, care and access to basic welfare support,” he said.
The outreach also featured a social engagement programme designed to uplift the morale of inmates and correctional officers. Organisers prepared meals for participants after slaughtering a cow, while drinks and other refreshments were served.
In addition, a football competition was organised within the facility to encourage physical activity and foster a sense of community among inmates and staff. The winning team received a cash prize of N500,000, while the second-place team was awarded N200,000.
Officials said the sporting activity was intended to rekindle joy and provide a moment of relief from the routine of correctional life.
In recognition of his humanitarian efforts and commitment to prison welfare, he was presented with the “Man of Peace Award 2025.”
The award acknowledged his contributions to inmate welfare through the activities of the Amadigolor Prison Foundation and his continued advocacy for improved living conditions in correctional facilities.
Shola said the foundation intends to expand its operations to correctional centres across Nigeria and other countries, focusing on healthcare support, welfare initiatives and advocacy for inmates’ rights.
According to him, the organisation’s long-term objective is to work with correctional authorities and humanitarian partners to improve the overall wellbeing of inmates while encouraging rehabilitation and reintegration into society.
