The final rites for late Nollywood actor Alexx Ekubo commenced on Wednesday with a solemn Service of Songs held in Lagos State, drawing family members, friends, colleagues and admirers from across the entertainment industry.
The emotional gathering took place at the Monarch Event Centre, where guests dressed predominantly in white assembled to celebrate the life and legacy of the actor, who reportedly died after a battle with metastatic kidney cancer
Notable figures in attendance were actress and producer Funke Akindele, TV star Frank Edoho and musical artiste Chike.
Other notable figures spotted at the venue was actor IK Ogbonna, a close friend of the deceased. Dressed in a white outfit and matching cap, he was seen coordinating activities and receiving guests as they arrived for the ceremony.
The venue was beautifully decorated with photographs of the late actor, white floral arrangements and elegant seating that reflected the solemn nature of the occasion. Guests were welcomed by violinists who performed soft, reflective tunes as attendees filed into the hall.
Fashion designer Yomi Casual and his wife were among those present. Other celebrities who attended the Service of Songs included Ini Edo, Stan Nze and his wife Blessing Obasi, Segun Arinze, Omoni Oboli, AY Makun, Yvonne Jegede, Nancy Isime, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu and reality TV star Bryann.
Adding a cultural touch to the event, a group of women dressed in matching Igbo-inspired attire entertained guests with traditional songs and performances.
The Service of Songs marks the beginning of the final farewell activities for the late actor, whose death has continued to generate tributes and heartfelt reactions from colleagues, fans and members of the Nigerian film industry.
