Rising Nollywood actress and former beauty queen Ifeoma Nebe has said that fame often comes with increased attention from men, warning that entertainers must remain disciplined to avoid being distracted.
Speaking in an interview with Potpourri, the actress addressed allegations that some women use acting as a cover for prostitution, saying she could not judge the personal choices of others but believes popularity naturally attracts advances from the opposite sex.
“Prostitution is a personal thing, and I cannot generalize people’s morals, but I feel that when you start to get popular, you also tend to get lots of attention from the opposite sex, and lots of them would tend to make one want to lose one’s home training if one is not disciplined,” she said.
Nebe also reflected on her journey into the movie industry, revealing that acting had always been her dream long before she got the opportunity to pursue it professionally.
“I have always had a passion for acting. I have always known what I wanted my future to look like, irrespective of my discipline at the time. So when the opportunity came, I did not hesitate,” she said.
Speaking about her career, the actress disclosed that she is still looking forward to taking on a role that will truly test her abilities.
“I am yet to get a role that will be categorized as my most challenging. I’m patiently waiting for a role that will challenge me,” she said.
Nebe also offered advice to aspiring actors, urging them not to rely solely on acting for survival in the early stages of their careers.
According to her, having another source of income or a vocational skill can help young actors navigate the industry’s financial uncertainties until they become established.
“Please, as a young girl or man, have some source of income or handiwork so it’s easier to navigate the industry at the early stage when the income is still very small, or when you are still an upcomer,” she advised.
