Workers of the Indorama Unit of the Maritime Workers’ Union of Nigeria (MWUN) have commended the President-General, Comrade Francis Bunu Abi, for his decisive leadership in securing the successful signing of a Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), describing the milestone as a major boost for workers’ welfare and industrial harmony at the Onne Port Complex, Rivers State.
The commendation was conveyed in a letter jointly signed by the Unit Chairman, Comrade Obarijima, and Secretary, Comrade George O. Moses, who praised Bunu’s unwavering commitment to workers’ rights and welfare. They described him as a responsive and principled labour leader whose dedication to protecting workers’ interests remains unmatched within the maritime industry.
According to the workers, the successful conclusion of the CBA was made possible through the Union’s strategic engagement and the President-General’s genuine concern for the workforce.
They noted that his diplomatic approach and steadfast resolve ensured a smooth negotiation process that delivered mutual benefits for both employees and the company.
The Unit further highlighted that the transparency and accountability demonstrated by the Union’s leadership played a critical role in achieving a balanced agreement that supports productivity while safeguarding workers’ rights. They stressed that the outcome reflects a shared commitment to sustainable growth and industrial peace within Indorama.
While expressing appreciation to the management of Indorama for its cooperation and sincerity throughout the process, the workers offered prayers for the continued success of the Union and its leadership, reaffirming their confidence in Bunu’s ability to champion labour interests in the sector.
