Following the recent violent conflict that left several people seriously injured and forced many residents to flee their homes, a swearing-in ceremony for the new community government was successfully held in Ojobo Community, Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State.
The ceremony took place late on May 29, 2026, at about 11:00 p.m., despite the tension and uncertainty that had surrounded the community in recent days.
Many residents expressed surprise and admiration at the determination of the people of Ojobo. After enduring a long period of conflict and unrest, the community still managed to carry out the inauguration of its new leadership before the end of May 29.
As many residents put it, “When Ojobo people say May 29 is the date, they truly mean it.” The successful swearing-in ceremony demonstrated the resilience and commitment of the community to its leadership transition, even in the face of serious challenges.
However, concerns remain over the recent violence, and community stakeholders are calling for peace, reconciliation, and unity to prevent further conflict and ensure lasting stability in the community.
